About Monika Rana
Many years ago, music lured me in the form of chords and fingerstyle guitar. But I slowly lost the spark to learn the techniques and theory. I wanted a quick shortcut to learn to play like the professionals- fingerstyle, rhythms, percussive beats. They all sounded as great as they were difficult to learn.
I slowly lost touch with guitar and I slowly procrastinated and avoided learning and playing. But music never leaves you. I stumbled upon a video of kalimba and instantly felt a peaceful sensation. I had to try it. Luckily my sister had ordered it by accident. I found a golden opportunity and kind-of stole her kalimba (a 17 keys C-scale kalimba). It sounded good the moment I played a note. See, that's how easy it is to play a kalimba!
Kalimba may feel easy, but it also requires you to understand theory and rhythms. When people learn instruments, they get demotivated by things that aren't explained well. Its not that people don't have the talent to play. Anybody can pick up music if they can tap to a beat.
Here, I share my experiences and the tips and tricks I've learned while playing this calming instrument while considering the struggles of beginners and intermediate players. And help you become better no matter what your goals are!
